Yes, New Jersey does impose a possession limit on its medical patients. The MMJ program mandates that all cannabis sold must be sold in packages of 1/4 or 1/8 ounce amounts. Patients will receive a specific dosage amount from their marijuana physician during their evaluations. At this time, patients are not allowed to possess more than 3 ounces of cannabis in 30 days. This is not the case, however, for terminally ill patients who do not have a possession limit of any kind.
The process of registering as a New Jersey caregiver is not all that different from a normal medical patient. Caregivers must apply with the NJMMP. If the applicant is not an immediate family member of the medical patient, they must pass a criminal background check to be approved. All the associated forms for caregivers can be found on the NJMMP website. You can also find information on their site regarding instructions on how to book an appointment with the criminal background service IdentoGo to collect your fingerprints. Keep in mind, it can take up to three weeks for this background check to be processed. Once approved, caregivers must pay the associated fee with their application.
